Pune, Aug. 30 -- Ganeshotsav in Pune is renowned for its grandeur and creative decorations, many of which highlight the city's rich history. This year, Sanket Sopan Balkawde, a descendant of a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's Subhedar, has recreated the iconic Lal Mahal at his residence in Narayan Peth for his household Ganesh idol.

The detailed replica, built entirely by Balkawde over a month using NDF wood, has become a highlight of the locality.

Known for presenting historical themes each year, Balkawde has earlier recreated Vishrambaug Wada and the famous "Gupchup Ganpati" decorations.
