Deputy CM alarms Centre over Mumbai-Pune-Nashik highway hazards
Mumbai, July 7 -- Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has formally urged Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari for immediate repairs to critical national highways linking Pune, Nashik, and Mumbai, citing severe safety risks and infrastructural decay, sources confirmed today.
In a detailed letter, he highlighted how deteriorating conditions on these vital industrial and commercial corridors endanger public safety and economic activity.
Pawar specifically targeted the Pune-Nashik highway, noting that proliferating potholes cause vehicle damage while inflicting "time loss, fuel wastage, and psychological distress" on commuters.
He questioned why toll collections haven't translated into road improvements.
