Nagpur, Dec. 12 -- Deputy chairperson Dr Neelam Gorhe today directed authorities to conduct a comprehensive audit of panic button systems installed in buses, cabs and taxis across Maharashtra and to rectify all technical faults immediately.

The instructions came during a review meeting held at the state legislature today, focussing on women's safety in public transport.

Dr. Gorhe emphasized that each district should carry out regular inspections of these systems and ensure their effective functioning.

"While the system is designed to provide immediate assistance during emergencies, its impact is not visible to the expected extent," she noted.
