Edinburgh, Aug. 19 -- A second season of the Edinburgh-set crime thriller "Dept. Q", headlined by Matthew Goode and crafted by Scott Frank, acclaimed for "The Queen's Gambit", has been commissioned.

The decision comes a little over two months after the series debuted to strong reviews and impressive viewing figures, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Adapted from the best-selling novels of Danish author "Jusi Adler-Olsen", the series follows Detective Chief Inspector Carl Morck, who leads a small team that works cases that were previously considered unsolvable from a basement office in Edinburgh. Alexej Manvelov, Leah Byrne and Jamie Sives also star.
