Depression over Southwest Bay crosses coast Northeast of Sri Lanka

Chennai, Jan. 10 -- The Depression over the Bay of Bengal crossed the Northeast Sri Lankacoast this evening and will weaken gradually into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area in the next12 hours.

Met office sources said the Depression over southwest Bay of Bengal off Northeast Sri Lanka coastmoved west-northwestwards with a speed of eight kmph during the past six hours and crossed theNortheast Sri Lanka coast close to Mullaittivu between 1530 and 1630 hrs IST this evening.

It crossed the coast as a Depression and lay centered at 1730 of today, over North coastal Sri Lankaabout 30 km west-northwest of Mullaittivu (Sri Lanka), 70 km east-southeast of Jaffna (Sri Lanka),90 km east-northeast of Mannar (Sri Lanka), 190 km south-southeast of Karaik...
