New Delhi, Aug. 23 -- The Department of Posts has taken note of the US administration's executive order issued on July 30, under which the duty-free 'de minimis' exemption of goods valued up to USD 800 will be withdrawn with effect from August 29.
A 'de minimis' exemption refers to a legal principle or rule that states if something is too trivial, insignificant, or below a certain value of threshold value, it is exempt from certain rules, regulations, and requirements.
Taking cognizance of this order, the Department of Posts has decided to temporarily suspend booking of all types of postal articles destined for the USA with effect from August 25, 2025, except letters/documents and gift items of up to USD100 in value. These exempt categori...
