New Delhi, Dec. 19 -- At least 177 flights were cancelled on Friday at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International airport due to dense fog that affected visibility and heavily disrupted air traffic operations across North IndiaOut of the 177 cancellations, 89 were scheduled arrivals, and 88 departures. Four of the affected flights were on international routes (two arrivals and two departures respectively)The national capital was enveloped by a thick blanket of fog since late Thursday night, which significantly affected visibility.
Flight operations had to be conducted under CAT III procedures since 9:00 pm Thursday to ensure safety amid the low-visibility conditions.
