New Delhi, Dec. 20 -- As dense fog covered the national capital and several northern cities, a reduced visibility resulted in cancellations of at least 100 flights at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday morning.

The Centre government has issued clear instructions to air carriers to inform passengers concerned about the actual status of the flights.

The government has also asked the airlines to ensure the comfort of the passengers in case of flight delays.

Over 50 departures and similar arriving flights have had to be cancelled so far, according to information available on the airport's website.
