New Delhi, July 30 -- A new study led by researchers at University College London (UCL) has highlighted a worrying trend in dementia care globally: people with dementia are diagnosed, on average, 3.5 years after symptoms first emerge, and the delay is even longer- 4.1 years - in cases of early-onset dementia.
The findings come at a time when dementia is poised to become one of the greatest health and social care challenges of the 21st century.
As populations age globally - including in India where approximately 8.8 million individuals aged 60 and above are currently affected by the condition -- the need for early detection, integrated care models, and policy-backed support systems has never been more urgent.
