Solapur, Dec. 18 -- The Solapur Municipal Corporation elections are scheduled on January 15, with counting of votes on January 16. However, these dates coincide with the major religious rituals of the annual yatra of Solapur's presiding deity, Shri Siddheshwar Maharaj.
The Siddheshwar Maharaj Yatra has an unbroken tradition spanning nearly 900 years and will be held from January 14 to January 17 this year with great religious fervour. During this period, large numbers of devotees visit Solapur to participate in various rituals and ceremonies.
