New Delhi, March 19 -- People in the national capital on Thursday began the Chaitra Navratri by offering prayers across various temples in the national capital as the auspicious nine-day festival of Navratri commences.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during the morning visited the revered and famous Jhandewala Devi Temple, marking the first day of Navratri, where she offered prayers to Goddess Durga.

Gupta prayed for the happiness, prosperity and well-being of the people of Delhi, and performed special rituals in the temple premises, expressing her deep faith in the divine feminine power.
