New Delhi, Dec. 5 -- The heart of India's capital remained gridlocked as Russian President Vladimir Putin went about his official engagements, including meetings and a visit to Rajghat to pay respects to the Father of the Nation.
Police and paramilitary forces lined key roads, with snipers and anti-terror units forming a crucial layer of the multi-layered security grid for the Russian strongman.
Top officials said extensive measures, ranging from electronic surveillance to advance area sweeps, were activated ahead of Putin's arrival and will remain in force until his departure.
