New Delhi, Jan. 26 -- To ensure foolproof security on Republic Day, Delhi Police had deployed more than 30,000 personnel across the city on Monday as part of a multi-layered security arrangement for the celebrations, officials said.
Around 10,000 police personnel were deployed in the New Delhi district alone, which includes the ceremonial parade route and other high-security areas, they said.
"To ensure the safety and security of the Republic Day celebrations, around 10,000 police personnel have been deployed in the New Delhi area, with pickets, barricades, and all standard operating procedures firmly in place," said Devesh Kumar Mahala, Additional Commissioner of Police (New Delhi).
