New Delhi, Aug. 4 -- The Crime Branch of Delhi Police today said it arrested a man who had been absconding for over two decades after allegedly murdering his wife in 2004. The accused, Veerpal alias Maiju (60), a native of Farukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, was apprehended by a team of the Northern District Range (NDR) from Bakshi Ka Talab in Lucknow, where he had been living under a changed identity as Vijay alias Ramdayal.

The case goes back to September 22, 2004, when Veerpal allegedly attacked his wife and child at their rented accommodation in Jahangirpuri, northwest Delhi.
