New Delhi, Aug. 11 -- The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) today approved three major projects worth a combined Rs 917 crore to upgrade and expand sewage treatment plants (STPs) across the capital, aiming to reduce pollution in the Yamuna River.
The decisions were taken during the board's meeting, chaired by Delhi's Water Minister.
The largest project, costing Rs 403 crore, will increase the capacity of the Yamuna Vihar Phase-III STP from 25 to 40 million gallons per day (MGD) and construct a new 15 MGD plant at Yamuna Vihar Phase-IV. The upgraded facilities will comply with the latest Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and National Green Tribunal (NGT) standards.
