New Delhi, Feb. 16 -- A Delhi court has discharged a man accused under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), observing that there was no cogent or credible evidence to establish his membership in an organised crime syndicate.
"Accused Talvinder alias Jara is discharged for the offences punishable under sections 3 and 4 of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act. However, a prima facie case for the offence punishable under section 174-A (Part-I) of the IPC is made out against the accused, for which charge is liable to be framed against him. Jara is directed to furnish a bail bond in the sum of Rs 50,000 with one surety in the like amount within one week," the court noted in its order.
