New Delhi, Feb. 9 -- Residents in Delhi woke up to cleaner air on Sunday as the city's air quality index (AQI) remained in the moderate category for the third day in a row, offering some respite after days of breathing toxic air.
The AQI stood at 189 on Sunday, at the higher end of the moderate range. The city has remained in this category since Friday, when AQI levels were recorded at 196 on both Friday and Saturday, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
By 6 pm on Sunday, strong surface winds helped improve air quality further, with the AQI dropping to 160.
Experts attributed the improved air quality to strong, sustained winds over the national capital in the last few days.
