New Delhi, Jan. 16 -- Delhi AAP president Saurabh Bharadwaj on Friday alleged that the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta have remained silent spectators to organised illegal sand mining in the city's Burari and Jagatpur areas, despite clear evidence and judicial orders.

"The LG has taken no action on the DCP, and the CM has not suspended the concerned DM. What is their collusion with them? Why has no FIR been lodged against the mining mafia?" Bharadwaj asked during a press conference.

The allegations centre around mining activity along the Yamuna floodplains. Bharadwaj presented what he claimed was recent video evidence from January 13, showing ongoing extraction.
