New Delhi, Dec. 17 -- The Delhi government is moving closer to finalising a new excise policy, with a ministerial committee headed by Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Verma preparing a comprehensive draft aimed at regulatory reform, consumer transparency and better urban planning.

According to official sources, the draft policy is expected to be placed in the public domain by January to invite suggestions and feedback from citizens and stakeholders. Once the consultation process is completed, the policy will be submitted for approval to the Cabinet and subsequently to the Lieutenant Governor before formal notification.
