Shimla, Dec. 8 -- In an important ruling reinforcing academic legitimacy and administrative consistency, the Himachal Pradesh High Court has held that a degree once accepted as valid by a university for higher study or employment cannot later be declared invalid or irrelevant for selection purposes.
The judgment pronounced on November 24 came in a petition filed by Seema Sharma, a Guest Faculty member at Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, who challenged the denial of marks for her M.Sc Botany degree during selection for the post of Assistant Professor (Forest Products).
