Chennai, Jan. 8 -- The Deep Depression over the Bay of Bengal is al set to intensify in the next 12 hoursbefore crossing the Sri Lanka coast by tomorrow evening or night.
In an update, Met office tonight said the Deep Depression over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining EastEquatorial Indian Ocean moved nearly northwestwards with a speed of 15 kmph during the past six hours.
It lay centred at 1730 hours of today, over southwest Bay of Bengal, about 250 km east-southeast of Pottuvil(Sri Lanka), 320 km east-northeast of Hambantota (Sri Lanka), 300 km east-southeast of Batticaloa (Sri Lanka),400 km southeast of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka), 690 km southeast of Karaikal (Puducherry) and 860 km south-southeast of Chennai (Tamil Nadu).
