Met ofice said in an update based on 2330 hrs update the deep depressionover southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal movedwest-northwestwards with a speed of 13 kmph during past 6 hours, intensifiedinto a cyclonic storm ""Montha" [Pronunced as Mon-Tha]" .
It lay centered at 2330 hrs of yesterday, over southwest and adjoining southeastBay of Bengal, about 640 km east-southeast of Chennai (Tamil Nadu), 710 kmsoutheast of Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh), 740 km west of Port Blair (Andamanand Nicobar Islands), 740 km south-southeast of Visakhapatnam (AndhraPradesh) and 860 km south of Gopalpur (Odisha).
