Lucknow, Oct. 30 -- Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), Lucknow, has achieved a new milestone in medical science by successfully performing the first-ever Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery for Parkinson's disease.

The surgery was performed on October 4 by a joint team from the institute's neurology and neurosurgery departments. This achievement marks a historic step towards advanced Parkinson's disease treatment.

Patient RM, 68, had been suffering from Parkinson's disease for several years. He had serious problems such as difficulty walking, body stiffness and hand tremors, which were affecting his quality of life.
