Guwahati, Aug. 6 -- Despite criticism by the opposition, the BJP led government in Assam is going ahead with the plans to give arms license to Indigenous people in 'sensitive areas' and plans are on to unveil a portal through which people in sensitive areas can apply for the arms license.

Indicating that the portal is almost ready for inauguration, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that the dedicated portal is coming up where indigenous people, who perceive a threat to their lives and reside in sensitive areas, can apply for Arms License.

"Upon proper scrutiny and after a multi-layered process, Arms License will be granted to the applicants," he said.
