Pune, May 14 -- The female fertility level in India has dropped below replacement level sooner than in many developed countries, causing premature ageing of the population said Dr Naresh Purohit , advisor for National Reproductive and Child Health Programme (RCH) in a press release here today.

Sharing his insight into this issue of rapid aging challenges , executive member of the Federation of Reproductive Health Services-India (FRHS - India), Dr Purohit underlined the fact that declining fertility, not rising life expectancy, is causing India to age faster.
