Mumbai, Aug. 28 -- Maharashtra Congress Working President M. Arif Naseem Khan today appealed to the state government to reschedule the Eid-e-Milad holiday, which marks the birthday of Prophet Mohammed, from September five to September eight.

The request comes as the holiday coincides with the Ganeshotsav immersion ceremonies scheduled for the same day.

In a formal letter addressed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Khan pointed out that the ten-day Ganeshotsav festival concludes on Anant Chaturdashi with immersion processions taking place on September six.
