Bhopal, Aug. 7 -- At least seven devotees are confirmed to have died in a stampede that occurred on August 5 at religious preacher Pandit Pradip Mishra's Kubreshwar Dham in Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh.

The Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) today took suo motu cognizance of the incidence.

The MPHRC has sought replies from the Sehore Collector and Superintendent of Police (SP) in 15 days.

Two women devotees had died and several others were injured on August 5 due to a stampede during rudraksha distribution at the Kubreshwar Dham in Sehore district.

The deceased women included Jaswanti Ben (56) from Rajkot, Gujarat, and Sangeeta Gupta (48), from Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh.
