Tokoyo, Jan. 22 -- The death toll from the devastating earthquake that rocked Japan's Noto Peninsula three weeks ago has risen to 233, including 100 people who died during building collapses, Japanese media reported on Monday.

Another 22 people remain missing and over 15,300 are still sheltered in evacuation centers, the NHK broadcaster reported.

More than 37,100 buildings have been partially or completely destroyed and over 13,400 buildings have been confirmed dangerous and collapse-prone, most of them located in Ishikawa Prefecture, the broadcaster reported. Over 5,600 households still have no access to electricity and 48,500 households have no access to water, the report read.
