Darshan held after SC scraps bail in murder case
Bengaluru, Aug. 14 -- In a dramatic turn in the Renukaswamy murder case, Kannada film star Darshan Thogudeepa was arrested today after the Supreme Court quashed his interim bail, granted earlier by the Karnataka High Court.
The arrest took place at the residence of his wife, Vijayalakshmi, in Hosakerehalli, Bengaluru. His close associate and co-accused, actress Pavithra Gowda, the prime accused in the case, had been taken into custody earlier in the day.
A bench comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan ruled that the High Court had erred in granting bail without properly examining allegations of witness intimidation and other procedural lapses. The Karnataka government had challenged the High Court's decision before the apex court....
