Kolkata, Oct. 7 -- Buffeted by flood and landslips, Darjeeling hills are fast turning into Bengal's political centre of gravity, with union Minister Kiren Rijiju set to visit Mirik today, following Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Governor C. V. Ananda Bose, and state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya.

The union Minister's visit to North Bengal is seen as politically significant and comes a day after the recent attack on BJP MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Shankar Ghosh in Nagrakata while they were distributing relief material.

The union Minister will spend the day in Mirik before holding review meetings and travelling to Bijanbari tomorrow.
