Quito, April 14 -- Incumbent Ecuadorean President Daniel Noboa, known to be a close ally of US President Donald Trump, has secured victory in the presidential elections of the South American nation, winning a four-year second term.
The right-wing leader managed to defeat his left-wing opponent Luisa Gonzalez by a narrow margin, securing a 55.85% of the vote, compared to a 44.15% for the former congresswoman, according to The Guardian.
Securing a 90% vote, Noboa defined his victory as "historic" and has vowed to continue his "war on drugs".
