Hyderabad, March 11 -- Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender on Wednesday said he had contested the parliamentary elections but had not joined the Indian National Congress, responding after Gaddam Prasad Kumar dismissed disqualification petitions filed against him.
Speaking to the media in Hyderabad, Danam said that no whip had been issued by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi in the Legislative Assembly and maintained that he had not worked against the party anywhere.
He said he had faced political challenges like a "war zone" and asserted that even if the verdict had gone against him, he would have contested the by-election and won. "I am a soldier of the people of Khairatabad," he said.
