Akola, Oct. 8 -- A Dalit woman office-bearer of the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) was allegedly denied a hotel room in Akola after staff identified her caste, leading to the registration of a case under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act at Civil Lines Police Station.

Five days after the incident, the accused remain absconding, prompting strong reactions from the VBA and other social organisations.

VBA General Secretary Rajendra Patode warned that if the police fail to act immediately, the organisation would "teach the hotel administration a lesson in Vanchit style."The hotel owner has refused to comment, further fuelling public anger.
