Lahore, July 29 -- Two-time Olympic gold medallist and former German biathlete Laura Dahlmeier has been seriously injured in a mountaineering accident in Pakistan's Karakoram mountain range, her management confirmed today. According to a statement, the 31-year-old was climbing with a partner on Sunday, July 28, when she was caught in a rockfall at an altitude of approximately 5,700 metres. The accident occurred around noon local time. "Her partner immediately alerted emergency services, and a rescue operation began.
