Bengaluru, Dec. 26 -- Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara on Friday said an investigation has been ordered into the death of a balloon vendor in Mysuru after a helium cylinder exploded near the Mysuru Palace, even as media reports said several others were injured in the incident.

According to police, the blast occurred near the Jayamarthanda Gate of the Mysuru Palace around 8.30 pm on Thursday night when a helium cylinder used by a balloon seller exploded while he was filling balloons.

The explosion killed the vendor on the spot and injured four to five others, most of them tourists visiting the busy palace area. City police later confirmed one death, saying there were discrepancies in the initial injury figures.
