Bengaluru, Nov. 27 -- India talks about being a rising sporting nation, yet its cyclists remain a pale shadow on the international stage.

Fifteen years of advocacy, infrastructure tweaks, and corporate events have not suddenly made Indian roads Europe-like, nor produced podium-topping athletes. And yet, there is reason for cautious optimism.
