Dharamshala, July 24 -- In a significant development aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness in Himachal Pradesh, the Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) has received approval from the Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission (UGC) to establish a Disaster Management Centre.
This initiative comes in response to the increasing frequency and intensity of natural disasters in the region, including the devastating Kullu-Manali floods in 2023, the Rampur disaster in 2024, and the recent catastrophe witnessed in the Siraj region of Mandi district on June 30, 2025. The centre aims to enhance public awareness and provide vital information to mitigate the impact of such calamities.
