Hyderabad, Feb. 27 -- The CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI) on Friday celebrated National Science Day 2026 with great enthusiasm, marking the historic discovery of the Raman Effect by Nobel laureate Sir C V Raman, a milestone in India's scientific journey.
Dr Prakash Kumar, Director, CSIR-NGRI, who presided over programme spoke on emerging scientific frontiers, including energy particles and the application of muon tomography in geophysical exploration.
He noted that particle physics-based technologies are revolutionising Earth science research by enabling advanced subsurface imaging and a deeper understanding of geological structures.
