Mexico City, Dec. 21 -- Mexican club Cruz Azul is in advanced talks to sign Colombian striker Miguel Borja as a free agent, media reports said.

Borja's contract with River Plate is due to expire on December 31, and the Argentine club has informed him he is not part of its 2026 plans.

The 32-year-old is expected to arrive in Mexico City for a medical and to sign a contract next weekend, news outlet El Universal reported.

Borja scored 62 goals in 159 appearances across all competitions for River Plate following his 2022 move from Junior Barranquilla.
