Ranchi, Oct. 1 -- A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldier of the elite 209 CoBRA battalion, Sandeep Kumar, died after being bitten by a poisonous snake during an anti-Naxal operation in Jharkhand's dense Saranda forests, security sources said.
According to police headquarters sources, the incident occurred in the Chhota Nagra area, where the battalion was conducting a search operation against Maoist insurgents.
During the mission, Kumar was bitten by a venomous snake. He was immediately evacuated from the forest and rushed to a hospital in Kolebira. Despite urgent medical attention, the soldier could not survive the effects of the snakebite and was declared dead, sources said.
