Kolkata, Dec. 14 -- A 12-year-old girl was killed in crossfire and bombings between two rival groups over a disputed land in West Bengal's border district of North Dinajpur, prompting the local administration to deploy additional forces as tension ran high in the locality of Islampur, official sources said on Sunday.

The victim, identified as Kausara Begum, was fatally wounded when an armed group of men belonging to rival Noor Alam attacked with arms and bombs at the house of Zahid Alam in Islampur in the wee hours on Sunday.

The girl was rushed to the Islampur Mahakuma hospital where she was declared dead. Zahid Alam is the follower of Rafiq Alam, who has rivalry with Noor Alam for a long time to lord over an area as two rival gangs run ...
