Chandigarh, Oct. 11 -- Punjab Police's Counter Intelligence (CI) unit in Amritsar has dismantled a cross-border arms smuggling network with suspected links to Pakistan, arresting three individuals and recovering a cache of eight pistols, officials said today.
According to Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the operation was part of an ongoing state-wide crackdown on organized crime, following Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann's directive to strengthen internal security.
The accused have been identified as Mahesh alias Ashu Masih and Angrej Singh, both residents of Marhi Megha village in Tarn Taran, and Arshdeep Singh of Bhikhiwind in the same district.
