Srinagar, Sept. 29 -- Amid restrictions, the cremation of 45-year-old former Army man Tsewang Tharchin and another civilian, killed on September 24 during violent protests demanding statehood and inclusion of Ladakh in the Sixth Schedule, was held in Leh today.
Two other slain protesters, Stanzin Namgyal of Igoo and Jigmet Dorjey of Kharanki had been cremated a day earlier.
The cremations of Tharchin and Rinchen Dadul, held separately, were attended mostly by relatives of the deceased. Ladakh Police had intensified security arrangements in Leh town during the cremation, with streets largely deserted except for official vehicles, officials said.
