Nanded, Dec. 11 -- In a major joint operation against illegal sand mining in the Yeli and Mahati areas of the Godavari riverbed in Maharashtra, police and revenue autorities seized equipment valued at Rs 2.20 crore. an official said on Thursday.

According to officials, a team comprising Assistant Police Inspector Sanjay Nilpatrewar and Police Sub-Inspector Sunil Suryavanshi of the Usmannagar Police Station, along with the local Tehsildar, Circle Officer and Village Revenue Officer, carried out the raid. As the enforcement teams arrived, the sand miners reportedly fled the scene.
