Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 29 -- The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) has undertaken an internal assessment to identify the reasons for its setback in the recent Kerala local body elections, admitting that organisational weaknesses and political miscalculations affected the party's performance.
CPM State Secretary M.V. Govindan said the party entered the polls with a high degree of confidence, influenced by the achievements of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government.
However, this confidence failed to convert into the expected electoral gains. He acknowledged that overconfidence, shortcomings in grassroots mobilisation, and lapses in campaign strategy contributed to the unexpected losses.
