Thiruvananthapuram, Jan. 30 -- Congress Working Committee member and former Opposition leader in Kerala Assembly, Ramesh Chennithala, has called upon the CPI(M) to immediately stop what he termed a baseless and malicious propaganda campaign against senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi in Kerala.
Chennithala said Sonia Gandhi is a leader who commands deep respect among prominent CPI(M) national figures, from Harkishan Singh Surjeet to Sitaram Yechury.
He recalled that during the formation of the first UPA government in 2004, the earliest and strongest support for Sonia Gandhi came from the then CPI(M) General Secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet.
