Patna, April 6 -- The Communist Party of India (CPI) has requested all the constituent units of the Grand Alliance ( GA) to conduct a meeting to consider the situation arising out of the amendment in the Waqf Act.
CPI state Secretary Ram Naresh Pandey said here on Sunday that the party has written a letter to all of the alliance partners for convening a meeting of the GA to discuss the situation arising out of the Act.
Terming the Act as totally unconstitutional, Pandey said that it violates Article 14 of the Constitution by imposing selective restrictions on Waqf. This Act also violates Article 25 and Article 26, he said, alleging that the amended Act would trigger community tension
