Hyderabad, Aug. 23 -- Former Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary and veteran parliamentarian Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy passed away late Friday night in Hyderabad.
He was 84. He is survived by his wife Vijayalakshmi and sons Nikhil and KapilReddy, who had been suffering from respiratory problems, breathed his last at 1020 p.m. while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Gachibowli. His eyes were donated to L V Prasad Eye Institute.
Born on March 25, 1942, in Kondraopalli village of the then Mahabubnagar district, Reddy rose from student activism to become a two-time MP from Nalgonda and later led the CPI as its General Secretary from 2012 to 2019.
