Hyderabad, Aug. 28 -- The 4th State Congress of the Communist Party of India (CPI) concluded today, with Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao unanimously being re-elected as the state secretary.

Addressing the media at Makhdoom Bhavan, Rao said the CPI would intensify struggles on irrigation, farmers' issues, and protection of public sector undertakings in the coming months. He announced that the CPI National Congress would be held in Chandigarh from September 21 to 25.

Alleging that the BJP-led Centre was pursuing a fascist path, he accused the Telangana government of neglecting public sector undertakings. He declared that the CPI would oppose the handing over of Bayyaram steel factory to private hands.
