Patna, March 21 -- The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Saturday criticised the recent increase in fuel prices, stating that the hike in industrial diesel would lead to rising inflation and burden common people.

CPI state secretary Ram Naresh Pandey condemned the increase of over Rs 2 per litre in premium petrol and Rs 22 per litre in industrial diesel. He said the government's claim that there has been no change in petrol and diesel prices is misleading.

Pandey said the sharp rise in industrial diesel prices would increase input and manufacturing costs, which would ultimately push up the prices of essential commodities. Inflation will impact every household, and the burden will fall on common people, he said, demanding an immediate roll...
